Simply a beautiful game, Mabinogi, has been around for quite awhile with its releases in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and China. There is an article from gamespot (Korea) that states Mabinogi is underdevelopment for release in English, but there isn’t much news for it or website yet. The estimated release is sometime in 2007, but don’t get your hopes up until the website is out.

This is a fantasy MMORPG based on the Celtic mythology, Mabinogion. Unlike other games, when a player starts off in-game they may choose an age for their character instead of a class. For every Saturday that passes, the character will age one year and as a result they will recieve higher level-up stats and such. A unique feature in this game is the rebirthing of characters. You can choose to rebirth your character back to level one (resetting everything) except the skills you have learned in your previous life. By rebirthing you will be able to have more skills than a player who does not choose to rebirth.

Editor’s Pros/Cons:
Pros: This game is an icon for cel-shaded anime mmorpgs. Mabinogi takes the word fantasy to a whole new level. There are many quests to take on and I like how an owl flies to you and drops the quest scroll for you to read. All these little things is what makes the game exciting to play. It is visually appealing. There are also many skills available such as life skills, battle skills, and magic skills. There is also a unique title system where players are rewarded a title for completing certain things and these titles boost stats.

Cons: In foreign versions it is pay-to-play, but there is free-to-play as well. Those who don’t p2p can play for 2 hours a day only or on the free servers that are available. However, there are some rumors floating around that the English version will be f2p with no time limit or atleast until beta is over. Still, there may be free servers available. One thing that might be bad about this game is there are no real classes available, you just take on an age.
